– Domes/Vaults: comparing construction techniques, cultural meanings, and scale
– How Romans built long-lasting structures/buildings without modern technology: methods and technology (arches, domes, aqueducts, architectural features (paintings/sculptures))
– Working with the shape of the land: transportation/trains, buildings, water management, city planning, but all crammed together/carefully balanced in topography
– Fountains and water management
– Urban planning: landmarks directing the flow of traffic and pedestrians and how it works today
– Use of curves in building design: façades, roofs, columns, neighboring buildings, and creating public spaces
– Incorporation/themes of light and color
